Antivirus Service - Components

Small Business Solutions (All Tiers) and Small Office Protection

  • File Shield: Scans programs and files saved on the device for malicious threats as they are opened, run, modified, and saved to help prevent any detected malware from infecting the system.
  • Web Shield: Scans transferred data when browsing online to help prevent malware from being downloaded and run.
  • Mail Shield: Checks incoming and outgoing email messages in real time for viruses and links to malicious websites.
  • Behavior Shield: Monitors processes on the device to detect and block suspicious files based on their similarity to other known threats.
  • Ransomware Shield: Helps secure personal files from being modified, deleted, or encrypted by ransomware attacks by scanning for and securing folders that may contain personal data.
  • Remote Access Shield: Helps protect the device by blocking detected unwanted remote connections.
  • Network Inspector : Checks connected network for vulnerabilities and security issues that may expose sensitive private data or leave the device on the network vulnerable to attacks.
  • Security Browser Extension: Improves online security and overall experience when browsing the internet by helping you control who has access to your private data and warning you about malicious websites and phishing scams.
  • Real Site: Provides an encrypted connection between your web browser and Avast's own DNS server to help prevent DNS hijacking.
  • Firewall: Monitors network traffic to protect from unauthorized communication and intrusions.
  • Sandbox: Allows browsing the web or running applications in a virtual, safe environment that is completely isolated from the rest of the device's system.
  • Webcam Shield: Helps prevent applications and malware from accessing the PC's webcam and microphone without user consent.
  • Data Shredder: Irreversibly erases selected files, folders, or entire drives by overwriting them with meaningless data multiple times before deleting them, which prevents their restoration or misuse.
  • Browser Shield (ex Password Protection): Helps secure browser-stored passwords against theft by preventing applications and detected malware from viewing, changing, or deleting them.
  • Passwords (Password Manager): Password and data manager designed to securely store sensitive information in one place, and enables users to quickly fill in web forms and access their online accounts.
    • This service is in EoL (End-of-Life) and may be uninstalled during Antivirus upgrade. We recommend saving/exporting all your passwords and switching to Browser Shield instead.
  • Browser Cleanup: Scans for poorly rated/unwanted browser add-ons and toolbars and helps with restoring devices' default search engine.
  • Rescue Disk: Enables scanning the PC when the system is not running, increasing the chance of detecting and removing malware because the malware is unable to counteract.

Small Office Protection Only

  • Sensitive Data Shield: Helps protect documents containing personal information against unauthorized access and malware.
  • Do Not Disturb Mode: Works to silence unnecessary notifications when an application is run in full screen.
  • Software Updater: Helps keep commonly used third-party software up to date to eliminate potential security risks.

Small Business Solutions Only (All Tiers)

  • Exchange: Helps protect Microsoft Exchange Server against threats without interfering with its performance.
  • SharePoint: Helps protect Microsoft SharePoint Server against threats without interfering with its performance.

Additional Services

Small Business Solutions and Small Office Protection

  • SecureLine VPN: Standalone service that encrypts data traffic over the internet to help protect users’ online activity from eavesdropping. In Small Business Solutions, it is available as part of Premium and Ultimate Business Security subscriptions only.

Managed Small Business Solutions Only

  • Patch Management: Helps keep devices up to date with the latest feature and security patches. It is available only via the Business Hub as part of the Ultimate Business Security subscription or as an add-on.
  • USB Protection: Controls access to removable devices with storage capabilities to help avoid data theft/loss or malware infections. It is available only via the Business Hub as part of Premium and Ultimate Business Security subscriptions.
  • Web Control: Controls access to various websites to boost online security and productivity. It is available only via the Business Hub as part of Premium and Ultimate Business Security subscriptions.
  • Cloud Backup: Backs up individual files or captures an image of an entire disk, automating the backup process. It is available only via the Business Hub as an add-on.
  • Remote Control: Allows IT admins to remotely access users' devices to configure settings or troubleshoot issues. It is available only via the Business Hub as an add-on.

Small Office Protection Only

  • Mobile Protection (Avast Mobile Security): Standalone service that helps protect Android and iOS devices from known malware and threats.
      • File Scanner: Scans individual files and folders for security threats.
      • Photo Vault: Encrypts and hides selected photos, protecting access to them with a PIN.
      • Hack Alerts/Identity Protection: Warns user of potential leaks of sensitive information, such as passwords.
      • App Lock: Protects sensitive apps with a PIN, pattern, or fingerprint.
      • Anti-Theft: Protects stored data and helps recover a lost or stolen device.
      • Network Inspector: Checks connected Wi-Fi network for security issues, such as router and network vulnerabilities.
      • Scam Protection: Warns if links from emails or messaging apps are dangerous.
      • Boost RAM: Closes apps running in the background.
      • Clean Junk: Safely frees up space on device.
      • Wi-Fi Speed Test: Checks connected Wi-Fi network download/upload speed.
      • Wi-Fi Security: Uses VPN configuration to encrypt online traffic.
      • App Insights: Sets data usage limit and alerts when nearing limit.
      • Web Shield/Web Protection: Uses a local VPN profile to monitor ongoing internet communication and stop malicious connections.
      • VPN Protection: Provides anonymous browsing by encrypting traffic and offering multiple server locations.
      • SecureLine VPN: Standalone service that provides anonymous browsing by encrypting traffic and offering multiple server locations (comes with advanced settings).
