Enabling debug logging

This Article Applies to:

  • Avast Business Hub
  • Avast Business On-Premise Console
  • Avast Business Antivirus
  • Small Office Protection

Debug logging is a troubleshooting process that gathers a large amount of information and system logs to help find problems. We recommend only enabling this for a short time, as the log files can become very large on the end device.

Managed Devices (Business Hub)

For managed devices, we recommend creating a separate policy titled "Troubleshooting", or something similar. This way, you can apply the policy to any devices you need to troubleshoot, without erasing any settings you had configured for them in their normal policy.

  1. Open the Troubleshooting policy
  2. Click the General Settings tab
  3. Expand the General Settings section
  4. Beside Enable debug logging, click the toggle to enable
  5. Click Save
  6. Apply the policy to any devices you need to troubleshoot and restart them

You can then follow the details in Using the Avast Support Tool and Submitting Larger Files via FTP Server to gather and provide the log files to Avast Business Technical Support. Once you have submitted the log files, change the device back to its original policy and restart it again.
