Shutting Down and Restarting Devices

When you change an assigned policy, license, or update the virus definitions or Antivirus program, you may need to restart the device so the change takes effect. For this task, you can choose an option for when the warning message to users is displayed and decide if the shutdown happens immediately, is scheduled to happen later, and if it recurs on a regular basis.

Hub and Cloud Console

Shutting Down Devices

  1. If you would like to only manage tasks for a specific site/customer, select a customer from the drop-down menu
  2. Navigate to the Devices page
  3. Do one of the following:
    • For a single device: click the More button beside a device name and click Shutdown
    • For multiple devices: select the check boxes of the devices you want to update, click More, then click Shutdown
  4. Click Shutdown

Restarting Devices

  1. If you would like to only manage tasks for a specific site/customer, select a customer from the drop-down menu
  2. Navigate to the Devices page
  3. Do one of the following:
    • For a single device: click the More button beside a device name and click Restart
    • For multiple devices: select the check boxes of the devices you want to update, then click Restart
  4. Click Restart

  1. Click Shutdown device.
  2. Select one of the following:
    • Restart device
    • Shutdown device
  3. Type a message to notify your users before the shutdown or restart.
  4. Choose an option in the Specify when the message is displayed box.
  5. If you would like the task to be recurring, select Schedule the shutdown and set the Frequency (one-time, daily, weekly, or monthly) and Schedule start date and time.
  6. Type a Custom name for the shutdown or restart.
  7. Click one of the following:
    • Restart
    • Shutdown
    • Schedule restart
    • Schedule shutdown
