Update Antivirus Tasks for Devices
This Article Applies to:
- Business Hub
- Avast Business On-Premise Console
Both Avast Business Antivirus threat detection software and the threat database that Antivirus uses are updated on a frequent basis. New threats are discovered every day and it is important to keep your device(s) up to date to maximize the protection of devices and networks.
When this task runs, the software updates on each device the next time that device is turned on and connected to the internet. The task history shows you when the task has completed successfully for each device, and you can view more details in the Tasks Report.
Hub

Updating Avast Business Antivirus and Virus Definitions
- If you would like to only manage tasks for a specific site/customer, select a customer from the drop-down menu
- Navigate to the Devices page
- Do one of the following:
- For a single device: click the More button beside a device name and hover over Update
- For multiple devices: select the check boxes of the devices you want to update, click More, and hover over Update
- Hover over Update, then select the button for the type of task you would like to create:
- Update AV Virus Definitions Version
- Update AV Program Version
- Click Update Now
Automatic Updates
You can also set your customers' policy to update Antivirus and virus definition updates automatically. For more information, see Configuring Virus Definition and Antivirus Updates.
Business Hub
- In the Business Hub, click the policy you would like to change
- Select the General Settings tab
- Expand the Updates section
- In the Virus definitions updates and Program updates sections, choose an update option from the following options:
- Automatically when new update is available (Recommended)
- Manually
- Click Save
On-Premise Console

Updating Avast Business Antivirus and Virus Definitions
For details on how to create tasks for specific devices or your entire network, see Creating and Deleting Tasks.
- Click Update device.
- Select one of the following based on whether you want to update the program or the virus definitions:
- Program update
- Virus definitions update
- If you would like the task to be recurring, select Schedule the update and set the Frequency (one-time, daily, weekly, or monthly) and Schedule start date and time.
- Type a Custom name for the Update.
- Click Update.
Automatic Updates
You can also set your policy to update Antivirus and virus definition updates automatically. For more information, see Configuring Virus Definition and Antivirus Updates.
On-Premise Console
- Click the policy you would like to change
- Select the OS you are adding automatic update settings for
- Click the General Settings tab
- In the When to update section, choose an update option for both Virus definition updates and Program updates from the following options:
- Automatically when new update is available (Recommended)
- Manually
- Click Apply changes
