User Management
This Article Applies to:
- Avast Business CloudCare
IMPORTANT: ESS and ShadowProtect have been officially retired. If you have not yet moved away from these services, please do so immediately to avoid encountering any disruption once they are completely turned off.
In Email Security Services, users can have the same settings as are defined in Enterprise Properties ▸ New User Security Settings, or they can have their own custom settings.
To edit user settings, select All Users and then click the edit icon next to the mailbox you want to edit.
User properties
In addition to changing the antispam settings for a user you can change the:
- User type: between User, Enterprise Administrator, and Solution Provider. An end customer should only ever be a User or Enterprise Administrator
- Mailbox type: between Mailbox and Distribution List. Distribution lists are boxes such as sales@ or info@. We do not charge for these lists, so it is important they are selected properly
You can also uncheck the Activate Security box to disable antispam, meaning that no allow or block list will be applied to the mailbox. However, it will still be checked for viruses.
Resetting passwords
If a partner is unable to log into CloudCare Email Security Services because of a password issue, they should be able to use the reset password link. If this returns an error or the reset email is never received, do the following:
- In ESS, locate the partner's mailbox by email address or domain name
- Click on the edit icon next to the mailbox
- Click on the User tab and select Password
- Manually enter a password that meets the rules (minimum 8 characters, one uppercase, and one special character) and provide it to the partner. Advise the partner on how to change the password
Updating users
- If you need to change settings for all existing users, navigate to the Update Users tab
- Select the setting you want to change by checking Change This Property to the right of the setting
- Make your modification(s) and save. The new setting(s) will then be applied to all existing users
