Cloud Backup Overview

The Cloud Backup service allows partners to back up individual files or capture an image of an entire disk from devices within their network, automating the backup process directly from the console. You can set up backup schedules, centrally manage everything from one dashboard, and easily recover lost data in the case of an unexpected event, such as a ransomware attack. In other words, Cloud Backup provides a secure, easy way to safeguard all your endpoint devices' data.

This service is only available to partners, but self-managed users can still view the settings in the policy.


Selectable Backup

Choose exactly what you would like to back up, defined by file type, folder destination, and/or file size. You can also choose to exclude data you do not need to back up.

Internet Speed

You can schedule backups to occur during non-work hours to prevent negative impacts on internet speed and employee productivity.

Simple Deployment

Once the Avast Business agent is installed on a device (which occurs when you add a device to your network), you can remotely deploy the Cloud Backup service from the Portal. You also have the option to send out an email with installation instructions, or download a .exe/.msi installer.

Automatic Encryption

Files in transit and in storage are automatically protected with AES 256-bit encryption.

Cloud Storage

All backups are stored in the cloud and are accessible from anytime, anywhere.

Comprehensive Reporting

Reports on backup history, storage usage, anomalies in backups, etc are available for you to monitor in real-time.

Files Versioning

Whenever a file set to be backed up is changed, a new version is uploaded to cloud storage. This way, you will have access to both old and new versions of files ready to be restored as needed.


You can restore straight to the desired device remotely, or download data as an archive.

Password Protection

If you would like to set a password for the Cloud Backup client on the end device, you can do so in the CloudCare portal.

  1. In the Account tab of the CloudCare portal, select the customer from the drop-down menu
  2. Under Account Information, click Services
  3. Under Data Protection Services - Cloud Backup, enter a password in the text box, then click Save
