Avast Business Agent Release Notes 2023

 

The Business Agent releases for Avast and AVG brands (including the On-Premise Console agents) run on the same cycle, usually once per month, towards the end of the month.

CloudCare Business Agent is usually released one week after it is released for the Hub and AVG consoles. It may be held back if a new agent is not required, as CloudCare still uses some older technology in the agent.

This article provides information on the Avast Business Agent 2023 releases and is updated throughout the year.

November 2023

Windows Agent Version 23.7 (November 29)

Release Summary

This Business Agent release brings several setup and update process changes, as well as agent service changes.

New Features & Enhancements

• The Business Agent install and uninstall processes and dialogs have been revamped to improve the process.
• The update process has been simplified.
• The Avast Business ClientManager service has been renamed to "Avast Business Agent". The Windows service name "ClientManager" is retained. The application is now also named agentsvc.exe.

Resolved Issues

• There were no customer-facing bugs in this release.

Windows Agent Version 23.6 (November 1)

Release Summary

This Business Agent release brings minor improvements and bug fixes.

New Features & Enhancements

• Updated OpenSSL libraries (from 1.x to 3.x).
• CloudCare-related enhancements to improve stability.
• Permission changes to enhance security.

Resolved Issues

• Minor bug fixes.

macOS Agent Version 7.13 (November 1)

Release Summary

This release brings some minor enhancements and a customer-facing bug fix.

New Features & Enhancements

• Minor enhancements.

Resolved Issues

• Apple M1 CPU-based device asking to install Rosetta
• Other minor fixes.

September 2023

Windows Agent Version 23.5 (September 20)

Release Summary

This Business Agent release focuses on minor improvements and bug fixes.

New Features & Enhancements

• Minor enhancements related to upcoming service releases.

Resolved Issues

• Cloud Backup failing to update older .NET Framework versions needed for its functionality.
• Other minor fixes.

August 2023

macOS Agent Version 7.12 (August 29)

Release Summary

This release brings some minor enhancements and a customer-facing bug fix.

New Features & Enhancements

• This release implements changes to prevent unsupported features being activated in CloudCare and On-Premise devices. This allows users to operate their devices correctly, without interference of features that cannot be controlled from their management console.

Resolved Issues

• Ransomware Shield incorrectly installed/activated on CloudCare devices.
• Other minor fixes.

July 2023

Windows Agent Version 23.4 (July 20)

Release Summary

This Business Agent release focuses on minor improvements and bug fixes.

New Features & Enhancements

• Introduced support for upcoming service releases.

Resolved Issues

• .NET Framework 4.8 installation repeatedly executed on server OS.
• Other minor bug fixes.

May 2023

Windows Agent Version 23.3 (May 31)

Release Summary

This Business Agent release focuses on minor improvements.

New Features & Enhancements

• Added support for Japanese language. Alongside the Business Hub 8.69 release, the new 23.3 Business Agent is required in order to fully support Japanese language.
• Updated Cloud Backup connector to require .NET Framework 4.8. From the 23.3 Business Agent version, Cloud Backup will require .NET Framework 4.8 in order to correctly install. Any new devices that will be added with Cloud Backup must verify first that this version of .NET Framework is installed.

macOS Agent Version 7.11.340 (May 30)

Release Summary

This release brings some minor enhancements to the Avast Business Agent for macOS.

New Features & Enhancements

• Added support for Japanese language. Alongside the Business Hub 8.69 release, the new 7.11 macOS Agent is required in order to fully support Japanese language.

March 2023

Windows Agent Version 23.2 (March 21)

Release Summary

This release brings minor improvements and bug fixes.

New Features & Enhancements

• Master Agents are now able to support the download of microupdates. It is now possible in offline On-Premise environments to deliver microupdates, as this was not previously supported (Avast Updates Downloader 1.0.22 is a requirement when working with offline On-Premise environments).

Resolved Issues

• USB Protection blocking VM access to USB.
• Agent service not starting on Windows 7/Windows Server 2016.

macOS Agent Version 7.10.311 (March 21)

Release Summary

This release brings some minor enhancements.

New Features & Enhancements

• Added a dialog for Disk Access in USB Protection. From this release, when installing USB Protection on devices, users will see a newly added Are you sure you want to skip this? prompt if they close the disk access dialog. This will help to ensure the users correctly configure the agent on endpoints in the future.
