Avast Business Agent Release Notes 2024

 

The Business Agent releases for Avast and AVG brands (including the On-Premise Console agents) run on the same cycle, usually once per month, towards the end of the month.

CloudCare Business Agent is usually released one week after it is released for the Hub and AVG consoles. It may be held back if a new agent is not required, as CloudCare still uses some older technology in the agent.

This article provides information on the Avast Business Agent 2024 releases and is updated throughout the year.

March 2024

Windows Agent Version 24.2 (March 20)

Release Summary

This Business Agent release brings bug fixes and minor enhancements. Also, Cloud Backup menu item has been removed from client.

New Features & Enhancements

• We have implemented code to remove the start menu item Cloud Backup on devices. This action is a prerequisite for releasing the internal scheduling switch, facilitating smoother management of scheduled tasks within the system. This means the users will no longer be able to access the local Cloud Backup client, management can only be done via the console.
• Other minor enhancements.

Resolved Issues

• CloudCare devices lose connection.
• Other minor bug fixes.

macOS Agent Version 24.2 (March 20)

Release Summary

This Business Agent release brings bug fixes and minor enhancements, as well as a versioning change.

New Features & Enhancements

• The versioning of the macOS Business Agent has been changed to align with the Windows Agent/AV versioning.
• Improvements include the implementation of USB Protection relating to the granting of full-disk access to streamline the process.

Resolved Issues

• Minor bug fixes.

February 2024

Windows Agent Version 24.1 (February 7)

Release Summary

This Business Agent release brings a customer-facing bug fix and OpenSSL and AppRemover updates.

New Features & Enhancements

• OpenSSL will be updated to version 3.1.4 in this release.
• AppRemover, which is responsible for our competitive removal during agent setup, is updated in this version to resolve some issues with failure to remove supported software versions.

Resolved Issues

• BSOD in USB Protection driver.
• Other minor bug fixes.

macOS Agent Version 7.14 (February 7)

Release Summary

This release brings support for Support Package collection and minor bug fixes.

New Features & Enhancements

• Agent 7.14 for macOS provides support for Support Package collection from the console. In Avast Business Hub, this will be available in the 8.83 release.

Resolved Issues

• Minor bug fixes.
