Saving System Report and system.log Files on macOS

macOS 11.1 and 12
System Report
- Click the apple logo in the top-left corner
- Click About This Mac
- Click System Report
- Press
COMMAND
+S
- Type the name for the report, choose where to save it, and click Save
system.log
- Open Finder
- Navigate to Applications > Utilities > Console
- Click system.log, then click File > Reveal in Finder in the top-left corner
- Select the system.log file and drag it to the desired folder
macOS 10.12-10.15
System Report
- Click the apple logo in the top-left corner
- Click About This Mac
- Click System Report
- Press

+S
- Type the name for the report, choose where to save it, and click Save
system.log
- Open Finder
- Navigate to Applications > Utilities > Console
- Select the system.log file from the left frame and drag it to the desired folder
OS X 10.11
System Report
- Click the apple logo in the top-left corner
- Click About This Mac
- Click System Report
- In the menu bar, click Choose File > Save
- Type the name for the report, choose where to save it, and click Save

- Open Finder
- Navigate to Apps > Utilities > Console
- In the left part of the window, find the Files section
- Select the system.log file
- In the menu bar, click File > Save a Copy As
- Type the name for the file, choose where to save it, and click Save

System Report
- Open Finder
- Navigate to Apps > Utilities
- Double-click System Information
- In the menu bar, click File > Save
- Type the name for the file, choose where to save it, and click Save
system.log
- Open Finder
- Navigate to Apps > Utilities
- Double-click Console
- In the left part of the window, select system.log
- In the menu bar, click File > Save a Copy As
- Type the name for the file, choose where to save it, and click Save
