Configuring Cloud Backup Exclusions

Via the Cloud Backup exclusions settings of a policy, you can omit entire partitions, folders, and/or specific file types from being backed up for devices with Cloud Backup enabled.

To access these settings:

  1. Open the Policies page
  2. Click the desired policy to open its Detail drawer
  3. Select the Settings tab, then Exclusions
  4. Expand the Cloud Backup exclusions section

Excluding Folders and Partitions

To exclude folders or entire partitions from the backup:

  1. Go to the Excluded folders tab of the Cloud Backup exclusions section
  2. Click + Add new exclusion
  1. Choose Folder or Partition from the exclusion type drop-down menu
  2. Specify the location(s) to be excluded (folder paths or partition names)
    1. You can enter more than one location to exclude at a time, just hit Enter before each new entry.
    2. For user folders, use the %USERPROFILE%\FolderName format.
  3. Click Add new exclusion
Once added, the exclusions will be displayed on the Excluded folders list. From here, you can edit/remove exclusions if needed using the pencil/trash bin icon in the Actions column.

Excluding File Types

To exclude specific file types from the backup:

  1. Go to the Excluded file types tab of the Cloud Backup exclusions section
  2. Click + Add new exclusion
  1. Choose Folder or Partition from the exclusion type drop-down menu
  2. Specify the location(s) to be excluded (folder paths or partition names)
    1. You can enter more than one location to exclude at a time, just hit Enter or insert a comma or a semicolon before each new entry.
  3. Click Add new exclusion
Once added, the exclusions will be displayed on the Excluded file types list. From here, you can edit/remove exclusions if needed using the pencil/trash bin icon in the Actions column.
