Migrating Between Avast and AVG

 

There is no official migration process between Avast and AVG products. However, we do have some recommendations for customers wishing to switch from one to the other.

Note that subscriptions for Avast cannot be used in AVG products and vice versa. If you are switching from one to the other, you will need to get the proper subscription for the product you are switching to. Please contact your Account Manager or Partner.

Managed Solutions

1. Uninstall the AVG/Avast Business product(s) you are migrating from
2. If you are using the On-Premise Console, uninstall it as well
3. Install and set up the Avast/AVG Business product(s) you are switching to (using the proper subscription)

Uninstalling Current Products via Consoles

You can uninstall your existing AVG/Avast Business product(s) remotely via your console by removing your devices from it. For instructions, see the respective article:

If you have managed devices that are permanently disconnected from the console, refer to the Uninstalling Current Products section.

Uninstalling On-Premise Console

You cannot install the Avast On-Premise Console on a device that already hosts the AVG On-Premise Console and vice versa. Therefore, before attempting to migrate to your new console, make sure you first uninstall the console you are migrating from.

Setting Up the New Console

To set up your new console, subscription(s), and product(s), refer to the respective quick start guide:

• Avast Business Hub and On-Premise Console
• AVG Cloud Console and On-Premise Console

Unmanaged Solutions

1. Uninstall the AVG/Avast Business product(s) you are migrating from
2. Install and set up the Avast/AVG Business product(s) you are switching to (using the proper subscription)

Uninstalling Current Products

To remove your existing AVG/Avast Business products from unmanaged devices (not connected to an AVG/Avast Management Console) or managed devices that are permanently disconnected from the console, see the respective instructions:

Installing New Products

Once you've successfully removed all AVG/Avast Business products you are migrating from, set up your new product(s) and subscription(s) by following the respective quick start guide:
