Subscriptions Overview

This Article Applies to:

  • Avast Business Hub

Mobile Protection has been removed from all Small Business Solutions subscriptions (Essential/Premium/Ultimate Business Security) due to low adoption. Therefore, the Hub will no longer offer any related management options. The mobile devices with the subscriptions activated are reverted to the free version.

We recommend reviewing the service bundle changes to our Antivirus options that are fully available as of February 2022. See Avast Small Business Solutions Overview for more information.

Services activated in the Business Hub will be attached to a Wallet Key. Purchases via the sales team will give either a Wallet Key or activation code, which must then be activated in the Hub.

Service Billed
Antivirus Per device
Patch Management Per device
Cloud Backup As a subscription in 100GB increments
Basic Remote Control As a free service; five 15-minute sessions per month
Premium Remote Control Per connection; unlimited connections or one at a time
VPN Included with Premium Business Security/Ultimate Business Security bundle and legacy AV Pro Plus subscription
USB Protection Included with Premium Business Security/Ultimate Business Security bundle

Partners

Subscriptions have been upgraded in the Business Hub to make things simpler for our partners and customers.

Subscription Types

Prepaid

Prepaid subscriptions cover a certain number of devices ("seats") you can activate for a set amount of time, such as one year or three years. When this subscription expires, the services on the devices will be turned off until you renew.

Flexible

Flexible Billing, also called Pay As You Go (PAYG), charges on a prorated basis for the services used by a customer for each day of the month. Instead of paying for seats which may go unused, MSPs using Flexible Billing will only have to pay for the devices actively using Avast Business products — and never have to worry about manual renewals.

Flexible Billing is based on daily price: cost per day per service. If a service is installed and activated on a device, the MSP will be charged for it. However, if a service is disabled on a device for a full day (or longer), they will not be charged for it. This will be broken down clearly in each invoice.

Flexible Billing is available to partners with an approved credit limit.

Buying and Activating Subscriptions

Prepaid

This is the process for purchasing subscriptions within the Hub. If you purchase a subscription through the Avast Business website or elsewhere, you should get an activation code you can input into the Hub.

  1. Navigate to the Subscriptions page
  2. Do one of the following:
    • If you have an activation code, click Enter activation code, enter the code, then click Activate
    • Beside the subscription you would like to purchase, click Buy now, then complete the transaction

Flexible

The process for Flexible Billing exists almost entirely in OMS.

Managing Subscriptions

Prepaid

Subscriptions are easy to manage within the Hub. You can buy, renew, start a trial, and change the number of available seats from the Subscriptions tab on the Account page. For more information on managing subscriptions, see Managing Subscriptions.

Flexible

Subscriptions are easy to manage within the Hub. In the More (three dot) menu, you can perform the following actions on your Flexible Billing subscription:

  • Edit Upper Limit
  • Cancel Flexible Billing

If a Flexible Billing subscription is paused due to payment issues, the service will be stopped for devices with Flexible Billing. In the event more subscriptions are present, the newest devices will be paused. Once the subscription is paid via OMS, the service will resume.

Applying Services to Devices

You can add the services you have purchased to all or specific devices in your network by following the instructions provided in Managing Services.

Expiration

What happens when a subscription expires depends on what else is available.

  • No other subscriptions: Service is stopped
  • Another prepaid subscription: Devices are moved to the non-expired prepaid subscription
