'Logon Path Failed' error during installation

In the event you or a customer receives an "Logon path failed" error message during Essential/Premium/Ultimate Business Security installation on a device, this could be due to failure to add the startup items to the registry.

Resolving this issue

Take care when editing the registry, as an incorrect change can lead to serious problems. Export any keys you plan to make changes to in case you need to restore them.

Ensure the following registry keys exist and have the proper permissions assigned to them:

  • 32 bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
  • 64 bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

The SYSTEM and Administrators accounts should have Full Control permission on these keys.
