Configuring Antivirus for Isolated Networks

In some instances you may need to install the unmanaged Avast Business Antivirus or Small Office Protection client on devices in an isolated/offline network. To ensure your devices are configured properly, follow these steps.

On a Device with Internet Access

  1. Run the Avast Business Antivirus or Small Office Protection unmanaged full installer on the device, then copy the installer onto a flash drive (or other removable media)
  2. Input the license number to activate your product
  3. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Avast Software\Subscriptions\
  4. Copy the license.avastlic file to a flash drive
  5. Download vpsupd.exe (19+) and store on the flash drive

On Isolated/Offline Devices

  1. Run the Avast Business Antivirus or Small Office Protection unmanaged full installer on the device(s)
  2. Navigate to Menu ▸ My Subscriptions ▸ Enter activation code
  3. Click Use a license file, then select the license.avastlic file from your flash drive
  4. Confirm the license summary that appears
  5. Navigate to Menu ▸ Settings ▸ General ▸ Update and change the settings for both virus definitions and program updates to Manual (for more information see Updating Antivirus)
  6. Copy vpsupd.exe from the flash drive to the offline device(s) and run
  7. When complete, restart your device

Maintenance

You will regularly need to download and run the vpsupd.exe file on your devices to keep virus definitions up-to-date. In addition, when Avast releases a new program version, you will need to download the latest offline installer and run it on top of the existing installation.
