Restoring Backed Up Files

Once you have backed up your devices' files (see Backing Up Files With Cloud Backup), you can restore them if needed.

There are two ways to restore backed up data: via the Business Hub or the Cloud Backup dashboard.

In the Hub, you can choose whether to restore the data directly to the original device or to a different device in the event the original one is unavailable. Similarly, from the Cloud Backup dashboard, you can either download the backed up data to your own device or send a link to the data to a desired recipient.

Restoring From Business Hub

To restore a device's backed up data via the Hub:

  1. Open the Devices page
  2. Click the three dots next to the desired device
  3. In the drop-down menu, hover over Cloud Backup, then select Restore all from a device
  1. In the pop-up dialog:
    • Review and, if needed, edit the destination and the source (device) of the backed up data
      • By default, the dialog displays your selected device as the source and will restore that device’s data
    • Choose whether or not to replace (overwrite) any existing files with the same name at the restoration location
  2. Click Restore all files

When selecting a different device as the data source (i.e. when restoring data from a different device), the dialog will show an additional checkbox - Remove Cloud Backup from selected device, which you will need to tick to be able to proceed.

Restoring another device's backup data to the selected device will delete that data from the device you're restoring from to prevent any duplication of data in the cloud.

In the event the restoration task fails, the data will not be deleted.

Latest versions are restored when using this feature.

Restoring From Cloud Backup Dashboard

On the Cloud Backup site, you can view the saved data for each different device that has been backed up. You can also search within the data for specific types of content (documents, pictures, etc) and/or file names.

To access and restore a device's backed up data via the Cloud Backup dashboard:

  1. Open the Devices page
  2. Click the three dots next to the desired device
  3. In the drop-down menu, hover over Cloud Backup, then select View data and restore
  1. Within the dashboard's Cloud Data section (which will open by default in a new browser tab), click on your device
  1. Drill down into the backed up folder structure to get to the desired file or folder, then click the gear icon next to it
  2. From the drop-down menu, select one of the following:
    • Download: The data will be downloaded to your own device as a zip archive, which you can then share using a preferred method
      • Restoring data via this option currently has a limit of 2000 MB.

    • Share: The data will be emailed to a specified recipient, who can then download it
